Fred Winkler – Recipient of the “Citizen of the Year” award from the Greater Pascack Valley Chamber of Commerce

Frederick W. Winkler was a lifelong resident of Hillsdale, New Jersey and a recipient of the “Citizen of the Year” award as given by the Greater Pascack Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Fred worked for A&P for over 35 years. He was a 65 year member, past Chief, and past President of the Hillsdale Volunteer Fire Department and a member of its Exempt Association.

He loved to hunt and fish and was also an avid gardener. He was Co-President of the Friends of the Pascack Brook which has held the annual Kid’s Fishing Contest for the past 21 years. He was also a member of the Rock Tavern Rod & Gun Club, Rock Tavern, NY.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a 67 year member and past Commander of American Legion Post 162, Hillsdale, NJ. He was a proud American and grateful to all of the service men and women who served our country.
